Chapter 7 Mr Carson, A Charming Man

  • “We are not very clear about this, this is our Grey Group’s CEO personally assigned the task. The manager said truthfully.
  • Oh my God!
  • Grey Group was the one which was as powerful as the Grantham’s!
  • Who was this Mr. Carson?
  • Without hearing any useful news, Cora returned to the living room. She was surprised when she saw plenty of designer clothes, shoes and bags.
  • These clothes and shoes were all the latest in the season, and many of the bags were limited editions. Even if one had money, he might not have them.
  • Mr. Carson sent so many those fancies here all at once, which was enough to prove how strong his power and financial resources were.
  • With Mr. Carson backing her, she felt not only confident but also a little apprehensive. Mr. Carson must be a man of very high social standing. He got so many choices but why would he want her?
  • Now she had nothing except her life.
  • What can Mr. Carson get from her? Even the life she had now was given by Mr. Carson. Cora thought for a long time but did not come up with a reason and just let it go.
  • After putting on the clothes Mr. Carson had sent to her, Cora grabbed a car and arrived at the Grantham’s Group.
  • The company’s staff knew her so she went to Robert’s office very smoothly. Robert was working in his office. Hearing the sound of footsteps, Robert raised his head and saw Cora as she pushed in.
  • Cora wore a one-shoulder dress. She had lost a lot of weight during this period of time. Her whole body looked slim and delicate, baby fat lost in her face but more maturely beautiful.
  • When he met her yesterday, Cora was in a mass. He had not seen Cora carefully.
  • Robert felt a little strange when she saw the radiance on Cora’s face.
  • A thought flashed in Robert’s eyes. He stood up and said, “You have figured it out and agreed to sign the divorce agreement?”
  • Seeing Robert’s exquisite and almost perfect face, Cora almost choked by her anger.
  • Ever since she first met Robert at the age of fifteen, she had fallen in love with him. It only took three seconds
  • to fall in love with someone, but she did not expect she had paid such a heavy price for the love.
  • “I promise to get a divorce,” Cora said and took a deep breath. She could not cry, so she tried her best to pretend to be calm. “But you have to promise me a request.”
  • “As long as you promise to divorce, I would give anything you want,” Robert said cheerfully.
  • Cora had thought her emotion was numb, but she did not expect it hurt so much.
  • Robert agreed so happy because he wanted to divorce her as soon as possible so that she could make a place for Daisy and that child? Cora thought.
  • “I want the Grantham’s Group and all the assets under your name.” Cora clenched her fists and said, “You want to get divorced, but I will accept this request unless you give up anything except your body!”
  • Everyone was quiet in the office and the air was filled with an awkward silence.
  • After a while, Robert looked up at Cora as if she was crazy and said, “Cora, don’t do this, I hope that we can break up peacefully and we can even still be friends, ok?”
  • Hearing Robert’s words, Cora sneered and said, “Robert, you despicable mice! How dare you say you want to befriend me in the future! You really made me feel sick. I really regretted loving you.
  • “Cora, I thought I have already said it clearly. I neither want to do that. Your child is mine too. But if I didn’t do that, then the child of Daisy’s and mine will die.” Robert frowned and said, “Anyway, the child is innocent. I have to save him.”
  • Cora had thought that she would be able to calmly face Robert today, but when she heard Robert’s words, she
  • was still violently tortured by her anger and hatred.
  • Her chest was filled with fury.
  • “Daisy’s child is innocent. What about mine?” Cora couldn’t even think much about that child now. As long as she thought about him, she felt extremely painful.
  • She took a deep breath. She would take revenge for her child.
  • She had to make Daisy and Robert pay for what they had done.
  • “Nonsense, nonsense.” Cora sternly said, “I know you want to divorce me because you want to marry Daisy. Otherwise, as long as I don’t divorce, Daisy can only be a disgraceful mistress and that…”
  • Cora smirked, and said mockingly, “The child that was saved at the cost of my son’s life can only be an illegitimate child, just a bastard.”
  • “Cora, how can you become so mean now? Besides, Daisy is also your sister.” Robert frowned and said. Once, she had loved this man with all her heart and was willing to give up everything for him to get him out of trouble.
  • Now, she still felt distressed and wanted to help this man when she saw Robert’s frown but only out of habit not love any more.
  • Cora turned back to avoid looking at Robert’s face. She was afraid that she would show her weakness to him. and would make a compromise. She said, “Either give up the assets and leave the house, or you can let Daisy be a mistress forever, you choose.”
  • Her tone was extraordinarily firm and there was no room for discussion at all.
  • She forced herself to walk forward step by step. There was no way back. Even if there was a deep abyss in front of her, she would not go back.
  • Robert saw that Cora was not joking. He looked at her in disbelief and said, “Cora, are you crazy?”
  • Cora laughed coldly and said, “I’m crazy, but it’s all that you and Daisy have done to drive me crazy. It’s your betrayal and the death of my child that drives me crazy. And all of this it’s what I deserve. If you don’t agree, you won’t get divorced. And Daisy will be a disgraceful mistress forever.”
  • “Cora, I’m too disappointed with you, so this is who you really are” Robert’s face looked very displeased: “You are actually a vainglorious and inordinately materialistic creature.”
  • Cora saw the disappointment in Robert’s eyes. She did not know if she should cry or laugh.
  • She had been by Robert’s side for the past four years and had given everything to him even her own life. Everything her mother had left to her was given to Robert.
  • But in Robert’s eyes, she was just a greedy and vain woman.
