Chapter 10 Her Savior

  • Following her shout of surprise, she heard the door slam shut behind her!
  • Su Luoli was pushed to the ground and fell on her face!
  • By the time she clambered up and ran to the door, it would not open!
  • She smacked at it several times and shouted for help, but instead she heard her own echo!
  • When she had followed the so-called crew member here, she had felt that this place was too hidden. They had come across people at the start, but then later, there was no one to be seen.
  • Someone must have planned this.
  • Whoever had planned this planned well. No one would come here, that was why she was brought here.
  • Su Luoli turned and looked around the place. It was pitch black, and the only light was filtered in from what looked like an exhaust vent.
  • She turned on the torch function on her phone and discovered that this was a meeting room. However, there was no meeting, so this place was not in use and no one would come here.
  • She made a round of the room and found that there were two doors in total. One where she had just come in from and a back door. Alas, the back door was sealed shut.
  • What could she do?
  • It was at this moment that Su Luoli discovered that her phone had no signal!
  • Yes, this was the basement. Unless they had installed a signal booster, there would be no signal here!
  • "Goddammit!" Su Luoli swore angrily.
  • She knew that the industry was tricky, but she had not expected to be plotted against even before she stepped into it!
  • With no exit on sight, she could only call for help. However, there was no signal.
  • Holding her phone in front of her, she carefully walked around. She stopped suddenly. There was a very weak signal here.
  • Su Luoli raised her head to look and saw that there was an air vent above this area.
  • But when she tried to make a call, the weak signal bar disappeared!
  • The little bar appeared and disappeared again.
  • Su Luoli looked up at the vent. It seemed like she had to climb up get a better signal.
  • She moved a chair to the spot and climbed up to the small vent. It was a small area and while she could sit, she had to bent her head low. If she was not as flexible as she was, she would not be able to fit.
  • Once she was up there, she realized, who could she call?
  • The police?
  • What would she say?
  • If she said that someone had trapped her in a basement meeting room, would they think she was crazy?
  • But she could not find anyone in her contact list to save her. She might have a husband, but she had never seen his face, much less his number.
  • Su Luoli opened her call history. The last two numbers were an incoming call from Su Jianmo and—
  • That man from that day!
  • Su Luoli's heart beat faster when she thought about that man.
  • Should she call him?
  • Would he come?
  • Her finger hovered above the unsaved number when her hand slipped and her finger landed on it. The phone was calling!
  • Su Luoli paid no attention to her phone. She changed her position, it was too exhausting to stay in one position for too long.
  • Just then, the call was picked up.
  • "Hello—" She might only have seen him twice, but Su Luoli was very familiar with his voice.
  • "Hello, I'm… I'm trapped. Can you save me?"
  • "What? Where are you? Your signal is bad. Find another spot. You're breaking up!"
  • "This is the best signal I can find." Su Luoli told the man on the phone where she was. She had just finished when the call was cut off.
  • She did not know if he had hung up or the lack of signal had cut the call.
  • She also did not know if he had heard the address she had given or if he would even come.
  • Su Luoli could not take it anymore and climbed down. She had to rely on herself and find another possible exit.
  • After about an hour, Su Luoli had tried everything, even trying to climb out from the vent, but it was impossible.
  • It was hot and stuffy, and after such strenuous activities, Su Luoli's energy was almost completely depleted. She sat on a chair, sweating and gulping down air.
  • If no one ever discovered she was trapped, would she suffocate to death here?
  • Because she was beginning to feel like she was unable to breathe.
  • "Su Luoli—" A voice came from the direction of the door.
  • Su Luoli hurriedly stood up and moved to the door. "I'm here…"
  • "It's here. Open the door." The man's voice was on the other side of the door.
  • The door was quickly opened and the beam from a flashlight shined in. Su Luoli shut her eyes and turned away.
  • After being in the dark for so long, she was not used to the bright light.
  • "It's alright." Wen Qingmu waved away the crew members who had opened the door, and they left immediately.
  • He turned to look at Su Luoli. "Hey, come on out! You've been in there long enough!"
  • Su Luoli walked out, but she had just stepped out when her legs felt weak and she almost fell over. Luckily, Wen Qingmu's quick reflexes caught her.
  • "What? Are you scamming me?"
  • "Dizzy." Su Luoli screwed her eyes shut and her voice was weak.
  • Wen Qingmu pulled her directly into his arms. "This place is too stuffy. Let's find somewhere else to sit."
  • Su Luoli took a few breaths and pulled herself free from his embrace, before looking up at him. "Okay."
  • Wen Qingmu brought Su Luoli through the twists and turns back up to the ground level and found an area with chairs to rest on.
  • Suddenly, Su Luoli slapped her own thigh. "Oh no!"
  • "What's got you so startled?" Wen Qingmu frowned.
  • "I came here today to audition, I need to go for the audition!" Su Luoli immediately stood up and hurried in the direction of the lounge.
  • When she arrived, the lounge was empty, with just a few crew members clearing up.
  • "Excuse me, is the audition for the supporting role over?"
  • "It's already over. Why are you only here now?" the crew member asked unconcernedly. In this day and age when everyone wanted to be a celebrity, someone was late!
  • Su Luoli then ran to the next room, where the auditions actually took place.
  • The two assistant directors had handfuls of information, and were sorting them out while chatting.
  • "Director, I haven't auditioned!"
  • The two assistant directors looked up at her, and one of them impatiently said, "Miss, the most important thing in this industry is to be punctual. If you can't keep track of such a basic thing as time, how can you enter the industry? Try again next time."
  • "Yes, the audition has been over for half an hour," the other added on.
