Chapter 81
- As Ethan and I were sitting in the office gathering the information that we needed, I got a mind link from Reagan. One of my other school friends was really close with Callie as well. She wanted to meet me away from the packhouse. She sounded really worried and concerned and wanted to meet me in the woods near the packhouse. But I was really unsure about going into the woods right now. There was too much going on, and I had a lot of work to do. But she sounded scared, and we had been friends for a long time. I guess I owed her something.
- When I left the packhouse I walked out and saw warriors around everywhere, keeping an eye on things. But I walked from the packhouse to the woods without drawing attention to myself, and Reagan wasn't there by herself. She also had Eden. Our other school friend. The whole lot of us grew up together.
- As soon as I saw them, honestly, I barely recognized them. They didn't look the same. They looked really withdrawn and tired. They claimed that because they were friends with Callie, then they must be traitors as well, and I knew that wasn't true. But that didn't make any sense. No one was accusing me of being a traitor, and I was also really good friends with her. Or maybe they just weren't game enough to say it to my face.
