Chapter 17
- At the table, the light from the candle made the room look comfortably cozy. The roast meat fragrance was still present, and I could hear the occasional sound of cutlery moving plates. I had my hands resting in my lap while I waited for Ethan to start eating. I mostly stayed silent and just watched around me. I could figure out his feelings by the way he looked at me. I felt curious more than anything else. This was the first time I tried to prepare food for him, and I made sure it stood out.
- He finally took a bite, chewed slowly, then looked up at me. His eyes widened slightly and he paused, his face betraying a mixture of surprise and appreciation. The look alone was enough to make me feel proud.
- "You really weren't lying when you said that you could cook," he said, still chewing but clearly impressed.
