Chapter 55

  • I followed him out the door, my footsteps echoing in the hallway as I tried to keep up with his long strides. When we stepped outside into the clearing near the training grounds, the sight that greeted us was absolute chaos. A bunch of Ethan's warriors and a bunch of my warriors were tangled up in a full-blown brawl, fists flying, bodies slamming into each other, their snarls and shouts filling the air like a pack of feral animals. They were clearly trying to prove who was tougher, who deserved to stand at the top, and who could throw the hardest punch or knock the other to the dirt fastest. It looked like something out of a rogue pit fight rather than a disciplined pack.
  • Ethan wasted no time. He ran right into the fray, trying to wedge himself between two of the biggest warriors who were grappling on the ground, but it was like trying to hold back a river with a stick. Mason was there too, grabbing one guy by the arm and trying to yank him away before he could land another punch. But there were too many of them. It was like watching wild dogs tear each other apart for scraps.
  • I could see Ethan’s eyes shift, that tell-tale spark when he was about to use his Alpha command to make them submit, but before he could even open his mouth, I felt this spark of hot anger burn through my veins. Without thinking twice, I pushed past him so hard he had to stumble back a step to get out of my way.
