Chapter 139

  • It took another week for the rest of the packs to arrive, and we had a couple thousand warriors now. And they had all been interviewed, and our warriors finally arrived. With Beta Mason leading them. He claimed that the territory and pack were in good hands and that he wouldn't miss out on this for the world. So Ethan got up in front of the couple thousand warriors that we had with us and explained how it was going to work. It was such a large group that they needed to be split up. So Mason would take one group, Justin would take another group, Knox, Ethan's head warrior, would take another group, and the other best fighters that we could think of. But the leaders needed to be on the same page first. And they all needed to have the same fighting technique.
  • Ethan told me that he was going to stay with me in the gym, that we would keep training relentlessly together, even while everyone else was working through their drills. He wanted to make sure that when the time came, I would be ready for anything. I knew it was his way of protecting me, and I appreciated it more than I could say. Meanwhile, the Alphas were getting involved in training too, pushing themselves to stay in sync with how the warriors were being prepared. They knew that if they weren’t on the same page, the entire plan could fall apart in the middle of the battle.
  • One night, I went to the mess hall to make sure everything was going according to plan and to check whether they needed any more cooks. Feeding this many warriors was no small task. When I stepped inside, the noise hit me like a wave. It was so loud, with hundreds of warriors talking, laughing, and eating at the same time. It felt like the walls themselves were vibrating from the sound of boots shuffling and cutlery clanking.
