Chapter 37
- "They were on the short list of Dad's loyal supporters. What do you think?" I questioned, squinting my eyes as I saw the tension in Ethan as his jaw clenched. And with that growl again, low and deep down in his throat—pure frustration and surging anger radiating out of him like a wave.
- "I'm interrogating this entire pack. I am placing them all in Alpha command. I don't care if they get offended. I need to know who I can trust," he said firmly, every word sharp and decisive.
- "I'll start getting the files ready," I replied quickly, turning and heading straight for the office without hesitation. I was not going to prevent him from doing this. I knew not, I tell you, who to trust in this pack. I was not even able to rely on my instincts. Everything seemed so unpredictable. I was aware, somehow, that there were still some of the pack that were loyal to Dad. One could guess easily who they could be—he had treated them otherwise. He was kinder to them than other members of the pack. He had gone out of his way to ensure they were treated and favored and had opportunities where the other did not. It was nothing but a strategy to make them loyal. And now we had to know who all these were. We had to have names. What we wanted were facts. We could not afford surprises.
