Chapter 235

  • I stayed up in my room until the next morning, not even once stepping out or trying to sleep. I was wide awake the entire time, unable to relax, my thoughts constantly swirling in my head. When I finally came down the next day, the sun had already risen, casting a soft golden hue over the walls and floors. I stepped into the hallway and immediately noticed the warriors wandering around, their movements calm and focused, but clearly watching everything closely. There was a sense of vigilance in the air, and it reminded me that even though the day had begun, nothing felt normal anymore.
  • But I didn’t stop to talk to anyone. I walked straight to the kitchen with slow, tired steps and made myself a coffee. The scent of it helped soothe the edge of my nerves, but only slightly. I sat down at the kitchen table, holding the warm mug between my hands, and stared blankly out the window. The view didn’t bring any peace. Everything looked the same and yet completely different at the same time.
  • "Luna," Jesse said, appearing at the doorway. His voice was soft but steady, trying to reach me gently.
