Chapter 6
- I had no hope in this fight. The wolfsbane was still coursing through me, and I realized my father was no longer holding my arm. I stumbled, leaning on the small table where the officiant had stood.
- Chaos erupted around me. People were screaming, scattering. Warriors shifted to attack, while the vulnerable: women, children, the elderly, scrambled for safety. Thousands of bodies ran in every direction. This wedding would be remembered for a lifetime.
- Then I saw my father. He bolted back into the packhouse, slamming the doors behind him. No one could get in. He left the vulnerable to fend for themselves.
