Chapter 45
- As soon as the buses went with the women and children, and as the dust of their tires started settling down in the distance, Ethan summoned the rest of them. The look in his eyes was grave but composed, as it ought to have been in the face of doubt. The warriors formed around him a loose semi-circle in haste, eyes alert but puzzled. They felt that something was about to happen—something new—and they were all asking him to tell them about it. There was an electric air thick enough to slice with a knife, and I could sense the curiosity turning into silent uneasiness around me.
- "Alright," Ethan began, his voice loud enough for everyone to hear clearly but still carrying a reassuring tone. "Luna Summer is going to be running with us."
