Chapter 18

  • It was obvious when we arrived that the house was located just outside the main part of town. It wasn’t kept secret or out of sight—it simply stood alone but was still accessible to the pack. Although the building was simple and quiet, the location was what really stood out to me. The woods were right next to their house, and they were still shadowed and dark in the morning light. • "They would have taken her straight into the woods there. That's pretty obvious. But I thought you had patrols everywhere because Dad's warriors are outside the territory," I said, narrowing my eyes as I continued scanning the tree line. I couldn’t understand the reasoning behind it. With patrols at all the borders, how was someone able to get so close to a house on the border?
