Chapter 218
- When I finally found a couple of books, I sat down at the large oak desk and started flipping through them one page at a time. The scent of aged parchment and ink filled the air, a familiar smell in places like this, but it didn’t do anything to calm the storm raging inside me. I wasn’t reading everything in full. I was just skimming through the texts, urgently scanning for one thing and one thing only—Lilith’s name.
- She was the only person dominating my thoughts at the moment. The only threat that mattered. The only danger I needed answers for. Everything else faded into the background. - As I turned another page and leaned back slightly in my chair, Ryker came walking into the room. He didn’t look thrilled, and I could tell from his expression that whatever he had to say wasn’t going to make anything better.
