Chapter 19
- "Because my dad was recruiting stealth wolves a while ago. Not long ago. And he was making sure that they were having the best training that they could possibly have," I say, my voice quiet but firm, the weight of what I was implying settling between us like a heavy fog.
- Ethan looked at me with narrowed eyes as he tried to understand what I was saying. His shoulders were tense now, which showed that what I said was affecting him more than we wanted. "Are you saying that your father has done this?" he asked, and his voice was low and sharp, as if he was preparing himself for the answer.
- "I'm not saying that it's him for sure. Still, many packs rely on them. Have you let anyone join the pack recently?" I brought up the subject, knowing it was hard for him to consider it. Even so, it was a question that had to be considered.
