Chapter 175

  • All of the Alphas were obviously not happy that we kept this secret from them. But I admitted that we had so many other things to worry about, and this bitch was the last thing that we needed to worry about. She's been around for 200 years, and we've been keeping an eye on her. The former council knew that she was here, but they chose not to do anything because we aren't equipped to go after her. Which was true. This isn't really our responsibility. At least not until she came to our country and started killing people and making herself known.
  • Ethan stood behind me while I spoke and said that we needed to concentrate on the Lycan King. He reminded everyone in the room that Lilith didn’t have anything to do with us. Not yet, anyway. There was no sense in dividing our attention or wasting our already limited resources chasing something that might not be a current threat.
  • Eventually, after some grumbling and side comments, the Alphas finally agreed. Lilith hadn’t come after any of us directly, and for now, our priority had to remain on the King. The Alphas got back to the work they had already been doing with their warriors. They returned to their routines, still tense but slightly more focused than before.
