Chapter 62

  • "Yes. It's the closest we've come in ages. Mason can manage the pack." I say. My voice felt stronger than I actually felt inside. Deep down, I could feel my chest tighten at the weight of what we were about to do, but I did my best not to let it show. I had to be strong, not just for myself but for Ethan too.
  • "Alright then." He says. His eyes locked on mine for a moment, silently searching for any hint that I might break under the pressure. When he found none, he gave a single nod, a signal that we were in this together, no matter what.
  • Ethan ended up having to shift back, and he had his cell phone in the bag that he always carried around with him, and he called Mason. He asked for the best warriors to come and accompany us while Mason takes care of the pack. His voice was low and firm, and I could tell by the tone that Mason was on the other end agreeing to everything without hesitation. The connection between Ethan and his pack was unshakeable, something that gave me a small thread of comfort as the cold night air pressed in around us.
