Chapter 247
- I walked through the forest until I was well out of sight of the others. I continued making my way quietly until I reached the southern side of the territory. As soon as I arrived at the edge, I mind-linked Ethan to let him know that I was in position and ready to act. I needed to be completely certain before I made any kind of move, and that meant checking the enemy's location carefully.
- I took a moment to scan the area in front of me, making sure I had a clear view of Lilith's soldiers. Most of them were stationed around the packhouse, forming a tight perimeter there, which meant that where I currently stood, they were very few and far between. That gave me just the opening I needed, and I intended to make the most of it.
- So I stayed low, crouching at the tree line where I knew they couldn't see me. I knelt down carefully on the ground, taking in my surroundings and making sure I was hidden. I placed both hands flat against the dirt, feeling the earth beneath my fingertips, and I closed my eyes. I began to concentrate as hard as I possibly could. I had to empty my mind of every distraction and every thought and focus solely on the small piece of forest that was right in front of me. I visualized the tree stumps standing still, waiting to regrow, waiting for my signal.
