Chapter 79

• All I could hear was a high-pitched sound echoing persistently in the back of my mind. I began to feel short of breath and searched desperately for the music. Lisa had abandoned me, and now Preciosa was destroyed. I was in a crisis. When I began to get a glimpse again of what was happening around me, it was already dark.
• "How long have I been like this?" My head was spinning. I leaned against the bed and concentrated on listening to the sounds. The silence indicated that no one was home.
• I took my cell phone out of my pants pocket. The screen was cracked, but it still seemed to work. There was only one person who could clarify everything that had happened. After a few persistent attempts, I heard a familiar voice on the other end that made me want to cry.
