  • The next day, I woke up a little before sunrise and went for a walk. I stopped in front of my grandmother's house and stood there for a while looking at the door. She never spoke to me again, but she promptly signed a marriage permit. I wondered what she thought about all this and if her opinion of me had changed at least a little. Despite everything, I had no hard feelings.
