• Magical ability and magical energy were two completely different things. Magical energy was limited, and unfortunately, I had drained an excessive amount at once. I woke up in the late afternoon, still feeling exhausted. My "battery" was charged enough for me to regain consciousness, but I would hardly be able to use the same magic anytime soon.
• ‘Where is everyone?’ I thought as I put one foot out of bed. I wanted to expand my spiritual perception, but I was still too dizzy to do so. I walked slowly and, as I started down the stairs, I found my mate running toward me. Allowing him to sense me through the mark had its advantages.
• "Don't strain yourself. I'll take you to a place where you can see them," he said as he picked me up in his arms. Lisa snuggled happily inside me at the way our mate was willing to serve us.
