• I walked alongside Annie, who seemed surprised that I hadn't skipped combat class today. For this class, we had to leave our things in our school lockers. It was forbidden to show up at the training area with unnecessary materials or any electronic devices. We stopped at a large clearing at the back of the school, right at the beginning of a trail into the forest.
• "Look who decided to show up today!" Lorraine sneered when she saw me arrive. It took her too long to come and bother me, and I even started to think she had forgotten about me. "Make sure you don't disrupt my boyfriend's class again."
• "Isn't that the human? What's she doing here?" I heard one girl whisper to another a few feet away from where I was standing. They were third-year students from another class.
