Chapter 21

• Annie snuggled closer to me in bed as she searched for the words in her mind:
• "I met Liam in middle school. Although I had good grades, I wasn't very popular. Once, when I absentmindedly bumped into him, he kindly reached out his hand and helped me pick up my books from the floor. When I found out that Liam was part of the music club, I joined the club just so I could be around him, even though I wasn't very good at music. We ended up becoming good friends. In the last year of middle school, Liam decided he wanted to start a band, so I supported him and helped as much as I could. But we were missing two members: someone who could sing well and someone who could play the guitar well.
