• "We're here!" John announced, pulling me out of my reverie. Reluctantly, I got out of the car and walked to the front door.
• "The alpha is waiting for you in the usual room," said the guard watching the entrance. I nodded slightly, followed the direction he indicated, and knocked softly on the door.
