Chapter 16

  • It was a cloudy Sunday. The day was at its peak as I ran through the forest, shooting arrows at fixed targets. Today was Eliza's hunting day, a preparation for the championship that would take place in two weeks. I kept running until I spotted a rabbit and quickly shot the arrow before it had time to escape. Bull's-eye! Lisa was irritated, wanting to leave.
  • "I want to train too!" she kept telling me.
  • I hung my quiver and bow on the side of a tree and started taking off my clothes. Folding them, I put them in my backpack and hung it on a lower branch near the bow. Initially, I wanted to see how rusty I had become, considering that I hadn't been practicing as I should have, but the accuracy with which I hit the targets told me I was ready.
