- William didn't show up again that day, nor did he have dinner with us. The alpha ended up ordering one of his guards to take me home after dinner. I didn't think much about what the stupid heir was doing, as I was too pleased to have been able to deal with the alpha on equal terms.
- As for Caroline's lessons, it was agreed that they would take place twice a week, on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons. I set aside the exercise books, handouts, and basic introductory books with sheet music for beginners before heading to the alpha's house the next day. Caroline wasn't very quick to grasp the theoretical aspects, but she had a formidable practical gift, and this quickly became evident as the weeks went by.
