- There was little time for much discussion. I stopped by the library and picked up the most relevant books before going home. I canceled my entire schedule to study. I quickly glanced over the topics I was most familiar with just to refresh my memory, and then delved deeper into the parts that were most relevant and therefore most likely to appear on the exam.
- I finished the geography of the borders in less than an hour. I knew the map by heart, and even children were familiar with the characteristics of the barrier. The dark borders lined a large coastal area. Only wolves had the ability to see the barrier and be directly affected by it.
- Humans who approached would see nothing but the sea ahead, a beach full of rocks and boulders, with strong waves and dangerous currents. We knew this because it was what the satellite maps and human cameras showed us.
