Chapter 25
- The week began with clear skies. I felt the sun warming my face as I stretched before the race. I looked around at the other unfamiliar faces that would be competing with me, but none of them seemed to notice me. Lorraine, on the other hand, was being watched by everyone as if she were Siram High School’s strongest contender.
- "Ready to lose again?" A tall girl with curly black hair and dark skin stared Lorraine down. The logo on her white uniform displayed with a red bow and arrow inside a stylish coat of arms. From the symbol, I guessed this was the school Nicolas had said was stronger than ours in the sport. Apparently, that included track and field too.
- "Sorry, honey, I didn't even notice you," Lorraine sneered. "Maybe because you're not good enough to beat again this year."
