• I took a long, leisurely shower while humming the melodies that came to mind. My stomach growled with hunger as I dried off and got dressed. After getting ready, I sat facing the door and waited. It was our dinner time together, so I was sure he would come to pick me up.
• “He’s not coming…” I muttered somberly to Lisa an hour later. I sat on the bed, feeling discouraged. The feeling I had was similar to the first few times I waited for my parents to pick me up from school, and they didn’t show up. Unlike then, I couldn’t just walk out on my own.
• “Hey, dear!” I jumped up immediately when I saw the door open. I approached him, feeling a little nervous. “I’m ready for dinner.”
