Chapter 5 The Start of a Conspiracy

  • “Yahan, how can you doubt Zhigang so easily?”
  • Jiang Zhigang was good in making up lies. He had successfully deceived me and now he had successfully deceived my parents too.
  • In my parents’ eyes, Jiang Zhigang was a good man. He had always been very good to me and had always treated them like his own biological parents.
  • Heh! If it was before, perhaps I would still believe that he was indeed good to my parents but now, I could not help but be suspicious of his intention.
  • I looked at my parents. Their eyes were full of worries about me. How could I have the heart to tell them that my husband, their son-in-law, was actually gay?
  • Jiang Zhigang continued to play his drama, telling my parents in tears that I made a big fuss over a minor issue by suspecting he had an extramarital affair.
  • My parents never doubted him and they even turned around to blame me.
  • “Yahan, Zhigang is a good husband. How can you even doubt him and break his heart?”
  • Mom helped Zhigang who was kneeling on the ground up. She had always treated him as her own son. I used to think that both our families were happy and harmonious too.
  • “What are you trying to do?”
  • I felt sorry for my parents but I did not dare to tell them the truth. I could only vent my anger at Jiang Zhigang.
  • With tears flowing down his face, he grabbed my hands but I pushed him away.
  • “Yahan, come home with me.”
  • I’ve finally made up my mind to leave that house and I even plan to divorce you but you actually want me to go back again? No way!
  • I looked impatiently at the man who was being respectful to me and smiled in contempt.
  • “Yahan, go back with Zhigang. The two of you should sit down and talk if there’s any problem. Don’t divorce over trivial matters.”
  • Even dad, who always loved me the most, commented so. I no longer could refuse them.
  • On the return flight, Jiang Zhigang tried to hug me but I found him to be disgusting. I turned away and ignored his apologies and tearful sobs.
  • Even so, he kept trying to cajole me and I became extremely irritated. I ran into the plane’s washroom and locked myself in it.
  • Looking at the empty sink, I could not help but think of Tang Xiao.
  • At that time, it was exactly on a plane’s washroom that my frivolous action had seduced him. Colors immediately crept upon my face when I recalled the scene that time.
  • I washed my face with cold water and dried my hands before finally leaving the washroom.
  • As soon as I got home, Jiang Zhigang’s mother, Wang Shufen, who was also my mother-in-law, immediately rushed out to hug me with tears flowing down her cheeks.
  • My mother-in-law was very good to me. Even though there was no sign of baby after two years of marriage, she still kept consoling me and telling me there was no need to rush, that we only needed to take things slow.
  • If she found out that her son was actually gay, I wonder how sad she would be.
  • My mother-in-law made minced pork congee with preserved egg for me and told me to eat more. Caressing my face, she told me I had lost weight in these two to three days.
  • She looked at Jiang Zhigang with condemnation and told him to have a talk to me. She would never allow us to get a divorce.
  • Every time I quarreled with Jiang Zhigang, my mother-in-law would always help me to condemn her son. The way she treated me as her own daughter gave some consolation to my broken heart.
  • After finishing the congee, Jiang Zhigang brought me to the bedroom and said that there was something he wanted to tell me.
  • It might as well. The reason I came back was to cut of all ties with him anyway.
  • He closed the door and defended himself in a manner that looked completely groundless to me.
  • “Yahan, you must believe me. How could I possibly be that kind of person?" I found his unrestrained tears to be unfamiliar. Until when does he want to deceive me?
  • I looked at his face as my heart turned colder. “The videos are very clear. Until when do you want to come up with all these bad excuses?”
  • He looked at me in disbelief. Without warning, he knelt in front of me.
  • His kneeling made my heart turn soft right away. He was a man I had loved for five years after all. I could not just forget all of the bits and pieces I spent with him so quickly.
  • “Yahan, those videos must have been deceptively edited! Somebody is trying to destroy our relationship!”
  • He swore solemnly, as certain as when he read his marriage vow.
  • With blood dripping from my heart, I finally turned on my laptop.
  • “Do you want to see them for yourself?”
