Before I could react, the sound of a violent crash resounded from the front of the car. I still had not processed what had happened when the car flew through the air. I fell into a sudden darkness accompanied by the sound of the car landing back onto the ground.
I did not know what had happened. When I woke up, I was still in the car, which was on its side. There were a bunch of people gawking from the side. Shards of broken glass were scattered all over me.
From the looks of it, I was only unconscious for a few minutes.
There was someone pressed against my chest. I took a closer look; Tao Jin was pressed tightly against me. He had used his body to shield me from this abrupt crash. Crimson blood was slowly flowing down his head, dripping onto my face.
“Tao Jin… how do you feel? Are you okay?”
I wanted to reach out and help him up, but my limbs were pinned in place by his body. I struggled to free an arm, but when I touched his back, all I could feel was the slick feeling of blood.
