He used to be quite the prominent figure in the country back then, and he was competing with Hansel for the position of president. Eventually, he lost due to his extremely small amount of votes. Due to his usage of underhanded methods while running for president, Nelson later fled the country for fear of Hansel coming after him. From what I've heard, he has been living a rather decent life overseas. He managed to maintain a close relationship with the higher-ups in various other countries. I'm just surprised to hear him announce his return all of a sudden.”
