  • Haven sat at a little, square table within the back corner of the coffee shop, his hands wrapped firmly around a container of cold coffee. He gazed vacantly out the window, observing as raindrops pattered against the glass. His leg bounced apprehensively beneath the table, a propensity he might never very break when his feelings were on edge.
  • Over from him, Alexis sat inflexibly in her seat, her fingers drumming against the table, her expression cold, far off, and filled with hate. They had been arguing for what felt like hours, the leftovers of a once-loving relationship now decreased to biting words and hatred.
  • "I do not get why you're doing this," Haven said, his voice strained. "We’ve been through so much together, Alexis. How can you just toss it all away? For him?"
