Chapter 25

• Alexis walked around aimlessly through the crowded shopping mall, her eyes going to and fro the store without really concentrating on them. She looked so unhinged with the colorful display and music that filled the mall. It’s been almost three months since Haven left for his trip abroad, and each day without him felt longer than the previous day.
• She stopped in front of a clothing store, her reflection in the glass caught her sight. The woman she saw through the glass was tired, her eyes dimmed by longing and loneliness. Alexis sighed, trying to rearrange her long hair. “She thought to herself, "Maybe new clothes might make me feel better," although the diversion wouldn't last long. Her phone buzzed in her pocket as she entered the store. She was hoping it would be Haven, so her heart nearly skipped a beat, but alas, it was simply a social media app notice.
• As she looked through the racks of vibrant dresses, a sensation of disappointment swept through her body. "He promised to return soon," Alexis murmured as she ran her fingertips over the silky material of a blue sundress.
