• Matthew clenched his hands, his lunch plans overlooked. Haven was his best friend, but this felt like a disloyalty. He was aware of their marriage, and he meant to be a friend to the couple
• not being in the middle of a whole disaster situation. But presently, hearing Haven talk so genuinely, Matthew realised Haven was still exceptionally much in the way. And more painful, Alexis didn’t quickly dismiss him. Matthew rested back, his chest tight with a blend of envy and assurance. He couldn’t lose Alexis. Not to Haven, not to anybody. He’d been holding up for the precise minute, and he realised, with a surge of adrenaline, that the minute was now.
• He turned and strolled away, defining a plan . If Haven needed to compete, at that point so be it. But Matthew wasn’t going to sit by and observe. He would make Alexis fall for him totally. He’d take her on dates so much that she wouldn’t have space in her heart for anybody else, not indeed Haven. The other day, Matthew appeared at Alexis’s door with a bouquet of sunflowers—her favorite. She opened the door, her face brightening at the sight of him, but there was a flash of wavering in her eyes.
