Chapter 24
- Alexis lay in their bed, which Haven was absent from, but she couldn’t help but think about their last conversation in her mind. If only she talked earlier, if only she told him not to go earlier than she later did. But she held up in silence too long, and by the time she broke out from her silence, Haven had already made plans for his journey.
- With a sigh, Alexis dragged herself out of bed. She headed to the kitchen, her movements lackadaisical as she readied her morning coffee. The whole routine felt empty as Haven’s talks, jokes and the way he’d dance around the kitchen, stuck in her head.
- As she drank of her coffee, Alexis' sight moved towards the refrigerator, which was filled with photons of their happier times. Haven was right there, smiling as he held up a fish he caught during their camping trip. And in another picture, they were arms wrapped around each other with both of them smiling and very happy. She just had to look away, the happy memories were already causing pain to her.
