Chapter 28

• It had been days since Haven and Alexis spent a beautiful afternoon at the park. With her hands shaking, Alexis sat on the edge of the bed, holding Haven's phone tightly. Though she hadn't intended to snoop, her curiosity got the better of her when a notification appeared on the screen. Now, with her life collapsing around her, she gazed at the compromising texts.
• She muttered, her voice almost heard over the silence in the room, "This can't be real." Without a doubt, the communications were flirty, full of inside jokes and speculation that suggested a close, personal relationship. Something that has nothing to do with her.
• She came back to reality in a flash with the sound of the door opening. It was Haven that entered the room, while she heard his footsteps, she was filled with dread.
