Chapter 77

  • The early harvest time evening was calm in Haven's flat, the warm tones of the setting sun casting a delicate gleam through the windows. Haven sat on his worn-out calfskin couch, gazing at the tv. The sound was quieted, and the pictures on the screen glinted as he absentmindedly flipped through channels. His mind wasn’t on the TV, in spite of the fact that. It was a Sunday night, and he was savouring the peace that came with the conclusion of an active week.
  • Abruptly, a knock echoed through the living room. Haven scowled, not anticipating anybody at this hour. He delayed for a minute, at that point rose from the couch. As he walked towards the door, a feeling of unease settled in his stomach. The knock came once more, more persistent this time. When Haven opened the door, he was taken aback by the sight of Vanessa standing there. She looked as she continuously did beautiful, with her long dim hair cascading down her shoulders, her skin shining beneath the soft streetlight outside. She wore a tight-fitting dress that complemented her bends, the kind of furnish she knew Haven used to love.
  • “Vanessa,” Haven said, shock binding his voice. He hadn’t seen her in days.
