Chapter 38

• Matthew paced relentlessly around the small, and mid crowded café. His body was all sweaty as his palm were stiff, his fist tightened as well, and he kept rubbing it off one another in order to keep his teeth skin in check. The cafe was oddly quiet, with conversations scattered around, which brought more uneasiness to Matthew, “What if they could hear what I’m about to tell Alexis?” He thought.
• He took a swift look at the wall clock and took some long breaths. The plan for the night was simple, tell Alexis about his feelings for her, in which he was expecting some awkwardness from Alexis, who had been Haven's girlfriend. He thought he could brush the feelings off, but he just could not get it off his chest, so he had to summon the courage and now it was the time to face his fears. He heard the soft chime of the café’s door opening, signalling Alexis’s arrival.
• Even though she was dressed casually, Alexis walked into the room with her usual grace, as if her presence alone brought the room to life. She wore denim leggings and an ordinary white shirt, with her hair pulled back in a relaxed ponytail.
