Chapter 22

• Days entered into weeks that passed in a mix of tension and silence. Alexis comes back home late at night, her eye bags are huge and puffy. She ignored Haven’s attempts to try and make a conversation with her, entering the guest room and bolting the door without a word.
• The next day, Haven was out early for work, the guilt still haunting him. He couldn’t focus on getting things done, his mind a constant distraction when remembering Alexis’s broken look. He called his assistant which was definitely not Cassandra and told the assistant to clear his schedule for the rest of the week. He just needed to get his mind right, he can’t keep going like this.
• On his way home, Haven stopped at the most expensive gift shop in the city. He spent an exorbitant amount on a massive arrangement of Alexis's favorite gifts, clothes and some candies he knew was her favorite. The attendant assured him it was a gift that could melt even the coldest heart.
