Chapter 36
- Alexis day started with the usual rush, and by the time evening came about, she was already fatigued and stressed. Her office, which was located in the middle of the city, can be related to a pressure cooker because of the deadlines and last minute changes. As she went through her day of the endless tasks, she grew more exhausted from every click of the mouse.
- By the time Alexis clocked out, the low light of the late afternoon casted long shadows over her. She dragged herself to her car, her shoulders fallen and her steps dragging clearly showing she’s exhausted. Her body ached from the nonstop drill of today's pressures, and her head was heavy with an ache of tension.
- The air outside was chill, a calm difference to the hostile atmosphere in her office. She took a long deep breath, hoping the fresh air might ease some of the stress that still held on to her. She reached out to her purse and fumbled with her keys, her fingers feeling numb and irregular as she struggled to get the car door open. The idea of starting the engine of her car felt like an herculean task.
