Chapter 41

  • Matthew had been pacing his flat for about an hour, the evening light shifting through the blinds casting long shadows on the floor. His thoughts were a hurricane, a mess he couldn't unwind. Each time he attempted to form a sense of it, he found himself right back where he started—angry, confused, and harmed. He couldn't accept what he had found, or or maybe, what he had been told. It had come out of no place, like a jolt of lightning on a clear day, and presently it was debilitating to tear separated the two most critical connections in his life.
  • He ran a hand through his tousled brown hair, letting out a profound moan. He required conversation with Haven, his best companion since childhood, the one individual who had continuously been there for him through thick and thin. But how might he? How does he tell Haven that his spouse, Alexis, had feelings for him?
  • Matthew had froze, his heart beating in his chest. He couldn’t accept what he was hearing. Alexis was hitched to his best companion, and here she was, confessing feelings for him? He had pulled away, making a few excuses about needing to induce a few talks, and had essentially fled the loft.
