• I’ve never had a girlfriend before. I’d argue that I still didn’t have one because Riley felt like so much more than just a girlfriend. That title felt small and insignificant to describe her importance to me. She stirred at my side, her body huddled closer and I tightened my hold on her, inhaling her scent until I was high on it.
• “Why are you awake?” her voice came forth in a groggy mumble and I chuckle. This was exactly what I had been missing. This intimacy, this calm and I knew that if it weren’t for Riley I’d never know how much I wanted something so mundane. It didn't feel mundane, it felt surreal.
