  • “Why am I in an adjoining room?” I frowned, refusing to walk past the threshold. Draven plopped down on the queen-sized bed, the mattress bending to accommodate his weight and I just knew it was soft. My body aching to sink into it and let sleep dull my awareness for a few hours.
  • “You have a knack for sneaking away,” he said, stretching his legs out in the process as if it were all he needed to say as if those words alone answered my question. He’d given me the briefest tour of his house but my mind had been dazed from the moment he pulled up at the front of the goliath wrought iron gate dwarfed only the large ominous piece of architecture caged in. Although, that thing could never be considered a prisoner on these grounds.
