Chapter 72

• It took me a swift ten minutes to shower and change in Draven’s office bathroom. I shove my dirty clothes away and exit the room to find Draven at his desk, a calculating glint in his eyes while he followed my every step. I took a seat opposite him, there were containers of food laid out on the desk but with the way Draven was regarding me, whatever appetite I might have had was snuffed out.
• “What did you mean when you said ‘they shouldn’t know that’?” he wasted no time drawing my attention back to the conversation we were about to have in the elevator. I swallowed hard, grabbing a stick of cucumber and bringing it to my mouth. I didn’t want it but I needed something to do with my hands. It was a bad idea nonetheless because the bite I took of the cucumber was rolling around in my mouth without a desire to be swallowed.
