• I shoot a final glance at Riley’s slumbering form before I eased the door to my room shut and make my way downstairs. She’d fallen asleep on my bed while reading of all things. The reminder made me snicker to myself. I’d been holding back with her since the decision to explore our attraction took root. If I indulged too quickly and often, there was a chance I’d never be ready to let her go.
• I did keep my word, I kept her informed of my recent work trip and I arrived home without incident. And by incident, I mean I found no strange men in any of my rooms. It was a strange thing, knowing that if I did find a strange man hiding away in my house I would kill him. As for Riley, it sickened me to realise that I’d fuck my anger out with her. I’d forgive her. Forget the entire incident as long as she remained.
