• “Not bad for your first day, Riley.” Jacob strolled towards me as I was gathering my hair into a single ponytail. It was nice to get a bit of exercise and for all the anxiety I felt before attending this class, I was weirdly looking forward to returning. I had expected to be in a far worse state than the other recruits but they were almost as clumsy and lacking as myself.
• Maybe that was shallow, to feel emboldened by my fellow peer’s questionable competence, but it didn’t bother me for longer than two seconds.
