Chapter 6 You Have Gone Too Far

  • Some of the guests stood up after hearing Mu Chenfeng's response.
  • The one that was most shocked was of course, none other than the bride, Xu Jiakai. Her face went pale, “Chenfeng, what are you saying?”
  • “There is someone else that I like, and she is here today as well.” Mu Chenfeng said.
  • As he said that, all the guests started scanning the crowd as they wanted to know who was the one who made Mu Chenfeng reject his bride.
  • A bad feeling was building up inside me, and it felt suffocating.
  • But fear as I may, Mu Chenfeng walked towards me in front of everyone and held the flowers up to my face.
  • That was when I fully understood the reason, he had brought me here.
  • This wedding was like a game of chess and I was one of his pieces being used to be his scapegoat.
  • Despite the difficult situation that I was in, I was not about to just let someone have their way with me like that. I wanted to explain and make clear that I was not the one who ruined this wedding.
  • “Him and I.....”
  • He kissed me suddenly before I could finish so that I couldn't speak, and that made things even more chaotic at the scene.
  • I heard him whisper next to my ear, “If you want your son to be safe, play along with me and pretend that we're in love.”
  • I chickened out the second I heard him mention my son. This bastard had said he would help me find my son, but now he was threatening me with my child!
  • I raised my head and saw the journalists busy snapping photos of us.
  • “I'm sorry, Anan. I won't leave you ever again.” Mu Chenfeng said affectionately, and motioned at me with his eyes to play along.
  • With so many people watching, it was insanely difficult for me to act so lovey-dovey with a man I barely knew. But for the sake of my child, I forced myself to play along to the best I could.
  • “Chenfeng, let's just be together from here on,” I said awkwardly.
  • Even I wouldn't believe my own words as I felt so embarrassed having to say it while staring at his handsome face up close.
  • “Chenfeng, if you dare step out of here today, you shall never return to the Mu family!” An elderly man in a suit said sternly.
  • “Father, I have wronged this woman. She is not only the person I love, but also the mother of my child. I owe the both of them too much. Please forgive me for having to do this.” Mu Chenfeng said.
  • The audience went into an uproar once again.
  • Even I was startled, could he really be the Chief that Liu Jun had mentioned? Was he really Xiaoyang's biological father?
  • The elderly man went pale and his expression was filled with hesitation and suspicion.
  • “Anan, let's go.”
  • Mu Chenfeng held my icy-cold hand and led me outside.
  • There were some people who wanted to stop us, but Mu Chenfeng's father waved at them to stand down.
  • I only regained my composure after we got in the car that was waiting outside. “What whatever you said just now is true?”
  • He looked at me and snorted, “What are you thinking? Have you watched too much drama on TV? Did you really think I'd actually like you? That was just acting.”
  • I felt deeply insulted by those words. The only reason I would even approach him was because Liu Jun said the father's name was Chief which matched his nickname, and he had said the child was his.
  • “Mu Chenfeng, you've gone too far! You used me to escape your own wedding, and you say I'm overthinking? You're the one who said you were Xiaoyang's father......”
  • “Do you think that's even possible? Take a look at yourself.”
  • He had a contemptuous look on his face as he opened the storage box and took out a check, “Here's a hundred thousand for your performance earlier.”
  • He was trying to shut me up with money again! Did he think that he could do as he pleases just because he's rich?
  • I shouted at him, “You've gone too far! You must apologize to me!”
  • He gave me a mocking look, “Apologize? Who do you think you are? Do you want the money or not?”
  • To him, I was someone that he could use, lie to and degrade as long as he paid me.
  • I took the check from him and crumpled it before throwing it at his face, “Do you think you can just toy around with people like that just because you're rich?”
  • That angered him, as he slammed on the brakes suddenly. I hadn't fastened my seatbelt and fell forward, hitting my head on the dashboard.
  • “Get out!” He said coldly.
  • “Fine! You no-good hypocrite!” I shouted as I got off the car, and he sped off angrily.
  • I walked for quite a long time before I arrived at the nearest bus stop, but no buses came.
  • I was growing increasingly anxious when I received a call from an unknown number, “Hello, is this the mother of Liu Xiaoyang?”
  • My heart raced upon hearing his name, and I quickly said yes.
  • “Please come over to Huadong Hospital. There are some things we need to discuss with you.” She said.
  • “Huadong Hospital? But he was discharged from there already. Are there still some pending procedures?” I asked.
  • “We'll talk to you when you come over.” The woman didn't explain further and hung up.
  • I dared not waste a second longer and hailed a cab to the hospital.
  • The sight that greeted me upon arrival caused my tears to fall once again.
