Chapter 14 Do As You Please

  • I lost control over my emotions and barged into the office.
  • Both the doctor and the head physician were shocked by my sudden appearance.
  • “Why would you make my son suffer if he wasn't sick at all?! You kept a small child like him hospitalized for days and hooked him up to a drip every day! You've gone too far!” I shouted.
  • “That's not the case, Ms. Lin. The child really does have some minor problems with his health, and really needs treatment. Hooking him up to the drip wasn't to torment him but to really treat him.” the doctor explained quickly.
  • “What about the medical cost of one million? Was that a lie you made up as well? Do you know how you almost drove me insane with that? How much did Mu Chenfeng pay you for you to do such things to me?!” I got more agitated as I spoke.
  • My life had been a living hell ever since I found out that my son got sick, but it was all a lie. It was great news that my son wasn't sick, but how could they have done this to me?
  • Panic spread across their faces when they heard me mention Mu Chenfeng. After exchanging glances, the head physician glared at the doctor, who quickly explained, “Ms. Lin, it has nothing to do with Mr. Mu. I made an error in my diagnosis, I'm sorry.”
  • The suffering that I had gone through these days isn't something that could be forgiven by a mere apology from him! I had even sold my body just to get a million......
  • “I'm going to sue you! I'm going to expose Huadong Hospital for cheating its patients and falsifying medical records! I'll let all of Hai City know that Huadong Hospital has no medical ethics!” I turned and left after saying that.
  • They kept quiet, and I saw the director make a phone call, most likely to report the situation.
  • I carried Xiaoyang out of the hospital. Although I was angry at being lied to, I was still relieved that Xiaoyang was fine.
  • As I walked out of the hospital, I saw Jiang Xuanlong running over, “Ms. Lin, Chief has returned from his business trip and is rushing back from the airport now. He asked me to send you to the Civil Affairs Bureau and wait for him there.”
  • “How did you know I was at the hospital?”
  • “You brought the child out by yourself, so the maid informed Chief and he had me come look after you. I hope you don't mind.”
  • “Tell Mu Chenfeng that I'm not going to the Civil Affairs Bureau anymore! I won't forgive him for having the hospital lie to me! Also, please stop following me!”
  • But Jiang Xuanlong came after me anyway, “Ms. Lin, please don't make it difficult for me. Chief has ordered me to protect you.”
  • “Then do as you please.” I said as I hailed a taxi.
  • When the driver asked me where I wanted to go, I couldn't answer. I had divorced Liu Jun, so going back to that house was impossible now. Going back to Mu Chenfeng's villa was even more impossible. After such a huge series of events, I was still a homeless person.
  • I quickly looked away as I didn't want to let my son see my tears.
  • “Mama, Mr. Jiang said Mr. Mu is back.” Xiaoyang said weakly next to me.
  • He was smart as he knew I was angry so he didn't dare say he wanted to meet Mu Chenfeng. Instead, he tried to remind me gently instead.
  • I felt worse now. He was too young to understand adult matters, and I couldn't explain it to him either.
  • Even if he could understand them, I still wouldn't explain it to him and have him feel upset with me. So, I didn't know how to respond to his reminder.
  • “Hey, where exactly do you want to go?” The taxi driver asked again.
  • I blurted out the address of the staff dormitory.
  • “Are you in some kind of trouble? That black Audi has been tailing us the whole time.” The driver asked.
  • That was Jiang Xuanlong's car. He had decided to follow me instead of stop me.
  • Soon after, Mu Chenfeng called me on my phone.
  • His voice was calm, “Have the driver pull over somewhere. Don't scare the child.”
  • Before I could respond, Xiaoyang had shouted in surprise, “It's Mr. Mu's car!”
  • I turned and saw a Porsche driving next to our taxi. Mu Chenfeng rolled down the window and waved his phone at us.
  • I let out a sigh as I realized that Xiaoyang was even able to recognize his car now, which showed how much he meant to Xiaoyang. How would he be able to take it if I were to break up with Mu Chenfeng?
  • I had no choice but to have the driver stop the car in front, while Mu Chenfeng stopped his car behind ours. While I was paying the driver, Xiaoyang had opened the car door and ran towards the back.
  • As I got out of the car, I saw Mu Chenfeng holding my son high up in the air, and Xiaoyang was smiling happily.
  • I stood there and looked at this man that I couldn't seem to figure out with mixed feelings in my heart.
  • Mu Chenfeng then said something to Xiaoyang and had Jiang Xuanlong carry him away before walking towards me.
