The next morning, I finished my bath and prepared myself a simple breakfast. Luo Wenbei's car arrived then. He was here to pick me up for our journey to the Nanhe Group headquarters. Perhaps he was worried since it was going to be my first time there. He wanted to provide some comfort in case I was feeling stressed.
I asked him whether he had his breakfast yet and he replied no. I asked him again whether he wanted to try my simple cooking. He countered by asking how simple it was. I laughed as I explained that it consisted of bread, milk and fried eggs.
He accepted my offer and was glad to have something to eat.
We sat together at the old redwood table and ate. He told me that the Chairman of Nanhe Group, which was his father Luo Jianye, was going to meet me. He reminded me to relax as his father had heard a lot about me and just wanted to see me in person.
I took a small bite of my bread and thought to myself. I'm just the sales director of a small company, why does the chairman of such a large conglomerate want to see me?
“Did you suggest it to him? Otherwise, someone of my stature is likely not worthy of his time.” I looked up at Luo Wenbei.
