Chapter 15 Fell For It Again

  • He was a lot taller than me, so I had to raise my head slightly to look at him.
  • The warm smile on his face was gone as he returned to his usual cold self.
  • “The doctor said the child wasn't sick at all......”
  • “Misdiagnosis.” He interrupted me before I could finish.
  • His tone sounded absolute and unquestionable like a judge's decision, which made me angry again. He had always acted like he was right in every matter, as if morality didn't matter to him at all.
  • “The child has been in the hospital for such a long time and has gotten several examinations. Are you saying that they misdiagnosed him in every single one? The people in the hospital have told me that you were behind everything! I really don't understand why you would do this.” I was agitated, but he kept calm.
  • “It was just a misdiagnosis. It's over now, and what's important is that the child is fine. Let's go get married now.”
  • I almost lost my mind with anger when I heard that. The hospital's behavior was already driving me insane, and now he had just brushed it all off by calling it a misdiagnosis? And he even asked me to marry him?
  • “Mr. Mu, I know that you are rich and powerful. You can have everyone act out their parts according to your scripts, but I'm done playing this game with you. I appreciate all the help you've given me and my child, even though it was all your doing anyway. Now that I know the truth, you can play it by yourself.”
  • I turned towards Jiang Xuanlong's car and was about to get my son back, but he blocked my path, “Fine, we don't have to get married then. But you can at least take a photo with me to fool my family members, right? I've contacted the best bilingual kindergarten in Hai City, and he will start school tomorrow. I've already told him about it, and you wouldn't want to disappoint him, would you?”
  • I eyed him suspiciously as I was afraid that he'd pull any other tricks on me.
  • He then dragged me into his car and drove to a studio.
  • The photographer started by taking some photos of my child. Mu Chenfeng had me leave my handbag with him as the staff led me into the changing room.
  • I then took some photos together with him and my son, as well as some with him alone.
  • My heart was starting to waver as I looked at Xiaoyang's bright smile on our family photo, and wondered if I should just forget about his lies and just get married with him to provide my son with his ideal family.
  • After the photoshoot, Mu Chenfeng asked me where I would like to go. I told him that I wanted to go back to work now that my son was fine.
  • He agreed and had Jiang Xuanlong send me to work before sending Xiaoyang back to his villa.
  • At the entrance of the mall, Xiaoyang waved at me and said, “Have a nice day at work, mama! I'll be waiting for you at home! We can go have dinner with Mr. Mu later!”
  • I wanted to remind Xiaoyang that the villa belonged to Mu Chenfeng but I couldn't bring myself to say it as I didn't want to disappoint him.
  • As soon as I entered the mall, my colleagues rushed over and greeted me warmly.
  • The manager also came running and looked very nervous, “You're back? Let me show you around, and you can point out any flaws that you see!”
  • He probably thought that I had come to conduct a routine inspection instead.
  • I told him that I had taken care of my son's issues and would return to work as usual starting today.
  • “Alright, but you won't have to stand by the counter anymore. Just stay in your office and direct us from there.” The manager said.
  • I said, “But I am a salesperson. What else would I be doing at work if I'm not standing at the counter? Are you trying to get rid of me by not letting me man the counter?”
  • The manager got even more nervous, “Lin, please don't make it difficult for me. Mr. Mu would kill me if I let you man the counter. I still have a family to feed, so please don't make me lose my job like this!”
  • I could tell that he was afraid of Mu Chenfeng, but since I didn't know what else Mu Chenfeng had said or done to the others, I decided to just do as he said. Mu Chenfeng was a really unpredictable person and might actually fire him, so I didn't want to put him in a difficult spot either.
  • I told him I was fine with not working at the counter but I would need him to assign some work to me.
  • The manager let out a sigh of relief as he wiped the sweat off his forehead, and told me that I only needed to oversee the operations of the mall with his assistance.
  • Fortunately for me, I was familiar with the mall so there was a lot of work that I could do. When it was almost time to get off work, Jiang Xuanlong had come to pick me up.
  • All my colleagues watched in admiration as I entered his car. I had an inexplicable feeling in my heart, as I wasn't a materialistic person but I felt secure and superior when I was with Mu Chenfeng.
  • It was hard for me to not be swayed by this sudden change after having lived a difficult life, as I was still an ordinary human being after all.
  • Jiang Xuanlong brought me to the fanciest children's restaurant in Hai City. As I entered, I saw Mu Chenfeng playing with my son in the playground.
  • Xiaoyang was dressed in a nice suit like an elegant prince. As I watched the two have fun, I could feel some kind of energy between them that got my heart racing as a feeling of happiness flashed through my heart.
  • Mu Chenfeng stopped smiling as he saw me and brought Xiaoyang over to me.
  • “I've already ordered the food, let's celebrate our wedding.” He said calmly.
  • I stared at him in confusion, as he retrieved a marriage certificate from his bag and handed it to me, “This is yours, take good care of it. You can have your household register back. Under normal circumstances, both parties would have to be present at the scene for registration, but you were busy working, and I am close friends with the head of the Civil Affairs Bureau, so they made an exception for me.”
  • It was a real marriage certificate, and I saw the names Mu Chenfeng and Lin Anan written under the married parties.
  • I had fallen for his tricks once again.
