Chapter 9 Shock

  • He didn’t care what that woman was up to, but today, he didn’t want to immediately jump into that topic.
  • The petite woman didn’t look at him, and he took no notice of her either. Instead, he walked to the edge of the bed and sat down, leaning against the headboard.
  • There were two books on the nightstand: Breakdown of GaoKao Practice Exams and A Guide to Childbirth.
  • He picked up Breakdown of GaoKao Practice Exams, skimmed it twice, and casually placed it down.
  • *Plop* The sound was neither loud nor soft. The woman at the desk did not turn her head to look back. Instead, she continued to mutter about something.
  • Ling Yichen then picked up the other book, A Guide to Childbirth.
  • This book was somewhat more interesting. At the very least, the babies in the photos enraptured him. Each one of them had noticeably plump fingers. They looked adorably silly, yet very cute at the same time.
  • His eyes reflexively wandered to gaze at the woman with her back facing him.
  • Would this woman birth him a silly... No. Should be a chubby baby?
  • His heart melted a bit.
  • What is she reading? She looks so focused!
  • Ling Yichen then placed the second book back down.
  • The same sound resonated again, but the woman did not turn around to look.
  • He got out of bed, changed into his slippers, walked up behind her, and coldly asked, “What time is it? You should be in bed by now!”
  • “Ah!” Xia Mo, who was busily dissecting the mathematics question, nearly jumped out of her chair. “You...”
  • When she turned to look at the man standing behind her, Xia Mo suddenly held her tongue. After two blinks of her lids, the gleam in her large eyes slowly dimmed.
  • She lowered her head and replied, “Sorry, I lost track of the time.”
  • As if she was an elementary school kid who had done something wrong, she capped her pen, organized her books, stood up, and said, “I’ll go take a shower right now.”
  • Like a mouse who had gotten trapped by the cat, Ling Yichen looked at the petite woman who brushed past him and hurriedly escape to the bathroom.
  • He then glimpsed at her practice sheet with geometrical questions written on it.
  • She’s a junior high school student?
  • Ling Yichen returned to the bed and picked up A Guide to Childbirth again. As he scanned it, he wondered, “Which baby will look the best when grown up?”
  • It had taken Xia Mo a while in the shower before she finally came out in her nightdress.
  • Leaning by the headboard, the man knitted his brows as he stared at her.
  • Xia Mo bit her lip and climbed up the bed from the other side. Her movements were fluid like a thief’s.
  • The man continued to glare at her, causing her skin to tingle with dread.
  • She hid beneath the quilt and attempted to further the distance between the man and her. However, his aura was just too imposing, and it unnerved her.
  • She surmised that he was upset because he had been in the room for a long while and she hadn’t discovered his presence at all. “I was reading, and I didn’t know that you had come in. I’m really sorry.” Xia Mo licked her lips and gingerly added, “I’ll be more aware next time.”
  • “Sleep!” Ling Yichen’s mood turned sour.
  • Where did Lu Wanru find this woman? If his son will grow up to be like this woman, docile like a sheep, what shall he do?!
  • “Oh.” Xia Mo then sensed the alarm in her head *buzz* aloud.
  • Nowadays, whenever she would hear the word “sleep”, she would immediately think of that thing.
  • What did he mean when he said that? Does he want her to take the reins?
  • Ling Yichen looked at the dazed woman. He rolled over to turn off the bed light, and then pulled the woman into his embrace. His hand slipped underneath her dress and caressed her body.
  • He could clearly feel the girl’s hair stand on end, but after a few comforting strokes, she quickly relaxed.
  • When his fingers reached her lower half and felt the increasing wetness dampen his hand, he abruptly became repulsed.
  • Seems like it’s just run-of-the-mill for this supposedly pure woman.
  • The ounce of pity that he had developed for her instantly dissipated.
  • He wanted to throw his arms up and just leave; however, upon looking at the woman beneath him, with her flushed cheeks and misty gaze, he was slightly hesitant.
  • She was already his. Not only did he splurge a million yuan on her, but she was also supposed to birth his child. So why should he walk away?
  • “Mm... Ah...” The moans from her beautiful lips had now become a song that was worth hearing a hundred times over. For this reason, he no longer dithered.
  • Another night of whirlwind passion went by. When daybreak arrived, Ling Yichen took a long good look at the sleeping woman beside him.
  • The woman’s body made him rage with lust. It was as if he hadn’t experienced pleasure in a decade and wanted to ravage her all night long.
  • The realization of this shocked him beyond belief.
  • He turned on his side to peep at her. The woman’s cheeks were still flushed. Her long eyelashes fluttered as her chest rose and fell. Her luscious lips puckered with discontent.
  • He couldn’t help but think of her puckering her lips exactly like this whenever he pushed into her. Her reaction was that of amazement and self-consciousness. She wanted to storm yet could only glare at him with her large, dewy eyes. This only made him want to drive more forcefully.
  • He didn’t deny it. She was quite beautiful and very cute. If he was to have a daughter who looked like her, he wouldn’t mind at all.
  • He eyed the clock on the wall, sat up, pulled the quilt over her body, and got out of bed.
  • Lu Wanru had told him he only had five days to do it. Four days had already passed.
  • He eyed the woman on the bed again and turned to leave the room.
  • As usual, Lu Wanru sat in the living room and waited for him.
  • After noticing that he had appeared on top of the stairs, she swiftly greeted him, “Have breakfast first before you leave!”
  • Ling Yichen glanced at her, nodded, and sat beside her at the table.
  • “You may leave!” Ling Yichen glanced at the servants around him and commanded.
  • “Have something that you want to tell me?” Lu Wanru looked at him. Her expression was demure.
  • “Where do you plan to send her to after she gets pregnant?” Ling Yichen raised his hand and massaged his forehead. “If you want her to birth a healthy child, you should not lock her up in a room.”
  • “But I didn’t lock her up.” Lu Wanru smiled faintly as she spooned a bowl of congee and placed it before him. “We’ll move back to the old house tomorrow. I’ll assign a few reliable people to take care of her here.”
  • His eyes flashed with displeasure, and he furrowed his brows but soon relaxed them. Ling Yichen said nothing after that.
  • “The old house is not far away from here. We can come back at any time. With her alone here, she’ll feel more at ease.” Lu Wanru swept another glance at Ling Yichen and said no further upon seeing him lower his head and begin his meal.
  • A while later, Mrs. Wu came down to inform Lu Wu Wanru that Xia Mo had already awoken, eaten her breakfast, and begun to study. Lu Wanru stood up from the sofa and stated, “I’ll go see her. You head to the kitchen and stew some soup for her.”
  • She opened the door to her room and spotted Xia Mo who was sitting at the desk and studiously reading her books. Lu Wanru turned around to shut the door, walked up, and reminded her, “Tonight is the fifth day.”
